Tethering iPhone basically refers to the process of connecting your computer to the internet through your iPhone. In this sense, the iPhone acts as a modem. iPhones are configured to tethering so the process will not harm your iPhone or computer in any way.

If your phone services provider does not allow you to use the regular data on your iPhone for tethering, you will receive a prompt to purchase a tethering package when you attempt to turn the internet connection on.
